Willian missed five days of Chelsea’s tour because he failed to renew his passport but he touched down in London yesterday to resume training. The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and is yet to speak to Sarri to discuss his future at Stamford Bridge. The Blues were beaten on penalties by Arsenal in Dublin last night after a 1-1 draw in normal time and Sarri admitted afterwards that he’s not pleased with Willian.
‘It’s strange,” Sarri said. ‘I am not happy about this situation but before I answer, I would like to speak to him.’
Willian would have handed in a transfer request had Antonio Conte stayed at the club but is more open to staying in west London under Sarri. Chelsea have made just one signing so far this season with Jorginho arriving from Napoli and are desperate to sign a centre-back before the transfer window closes. Sarri is interested in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani but the Old Lady want around £45m.
